Erasmus+ 2021 – 2027

The new “Erasmus+” programme for the 2021-2027 period will bring learning and mobility opportunities to 12 million people, in comparison to 4 million in the current programme, and reach out to people from all social backgrounds. It will also facilitate the participation of small scale and grassroots organisations and people with fewer opportunities, including people with disabilities and migrants, as well as EU citizens living in remote areas. The inclusiveness of the programme is also strengthened by the provisions on virtual learning and measures such as language support, preparatory visits, training and virtual cooperation for people who are unable to participate in learning mobility in the field of education and training, youth and sport. The new programme will give more attention to study fields such as renewable energy, climate change, environmental engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence and design. It will contribute to the fight against youth unemployment by giving young people the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills through experiences abroad and facilitating the transition from education to work. The budget for the period of 21/27 increased significantly compared to €15 billion in the previous seven-year budget cycle and is set for 30 billion. €25.9 billion is designated for education and training, €3.1 billion for youth and €550 million for sport.
