Partners of Edusport Project – YEU, USB, APY, MOJU and Sailing Club Horn Krákow – gathered between September 30th and October 2nd, 2021 for the first Transnational Partners Meeting in Thessaloniki. In this very productive meeting they discussed the importance and current use of sport as an educational tool across Europe, and within the YEU network. In particular, the partners went over the results of the Sport Policy Research implemented ahead of the meeting.
This Sport Policy Research showed the importance of sport as a tool for developing social skills, creating empathy and working in teams, as well as a general interest in involving sports in the organizations’ daily activities. To answer this need of integrating ETS in the YEU network and beyond, the project partners are developing a Manual on using sport as an educational tool in youth work and education.
EduSport is a project working on integrating and combining sports activities with educational tools in accordance with the Education Through Sports (ETS) methodology, a non-formal educational approach that uses sport and physical activities as educational tools in order to develop key competences of individuals and groups, and consequently contribute to personal development and social transformation.
Therefore, through ETS, EduSport intends to reinforce the use of sport within the field of youth work and non-formal education and, more specifically, within the YEU network. Moreover, the project aims to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among young people. To do so, partners also launched a social media campaign, to promote sport and the European Week of Sport. Follow our social media channels and #beactive, together with us!
